Shock Wave Therapy

For treatment of chronic conditions such as bone spurs, tendonopathy/ tendinosis, plantar fasciitis.

The treatment involves 2000 vibrations or “shocks” to an injured area the treatment is aimed at improving healing.

Several treatments 1 – 2 weeks apart may be required.

Patients are often recommended to try other measures before using shock wave therapy.

Treatment should be avoided by people who are on Warfarin, who have a pace maker or who are pregnant.

All treatments must be paid for at the time of treatment. Currently there is no Medicare/health fund rebate for this treatment. Your practitioner will also charge you a consultation fee which is claimable from Medicare.
